Tiago is a multi-cultural, passionate, and pragmatic medical doctor transitioning into management with a passion for complex problem-solving, healthcare, and cutting-edge technology.

Originally from Macau, he moved to Faro about 15 years ago. During his upbringing, Tiago discovered a fascination for technology, problem-solving Fitness and Sports, and helping others. After finishing his internship at Hospital de Portimão, Tiago set up a general practitioner’s office in a clinic in Albufeira while simultaneously attending several post-graduation courses.

When COVID struck, Tiago collaborated with the Regional Public Health Department (the main Public Health coordination center in the Algarve) to help manage the pandemic. He was responsible for managing the high number of daily COVID cases, solving the problems that came with them, and managing the rotating teams of interns. At the same time, Tiago revamped the internal COVID databases and several other protocols and systems to make them more responsive and efficient.

While working in Public Health, Tiago started engaging more with the management side of healthcare and became progressively interested in it, especially regarding problem-solving and resource management issues in healthcare.
In 2021, he decided to take PBS's International MBA to develop his management skills even further, and to find inspiration for the next step in his career. In the meantime, Tiago participated in the John Molson MBA International Case Competition as a member of the PBS representation team, and together they achieved the second place against thirty other participating teams.

Alongside his deep understanding of medicine and technology, Tiago is looking forward to joining a cutting-edge technology/health company as a manager where he can leverage his expertise to help develop better solutions.
